1. Purpose

The medical portal is software that runs on your Windows PC that allows you to communicate with your doctor using encrypted communications. This ensures the privacy of your communications with your doctors.  It is HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act ) compliant.

It also allows secure doctor to doctor communications.

You use this software to request repeat prescriptions, request appointments, check up on appointments, and for non urgent questions.  You can also store some of your private information on it such as medication lists, and allergies.

Doctors can send medical reports to each other confident that the communication is kept totally private.

2. Requirements

You will need a PC that is running Windows ™, and an internet connection.  A CPU faster than 1Ghz is recommended.  If you are behind a corporate firewall, or proxy, it may not work.

If you are behind a personal firewall, just allow portalc.exe to access the internet.

3. Proxy setup

If you are behind a web proxy ( common if you are using this from work ), then you need to fill in the proxy information. Click on the “proxy” button

and then fill in the proxy information.  When you save it, it will be restored next time you login.

4. Registration

When you start the software, you will see the following login screen. Click on the “register” button as shown below

You will need to fill in the registration form. Use a userid that looks like your name. Eg. jbloggs for Joe Bloggs.

You will then receive an email advising you when your registration is active.  Once that happens, you will be able to log on.  The whole process may take several days.

5. Download

6. Register with Provider

You will need to first register with a physician on the portal so that they can make appointments, and alter your medical details.

Select the “Directory” tab, and then the “List Medical Practitioners”

click on “DrGChiu”, and then the “Add Doctor” button at the bottom.

Now click on the “Personal” tab where you will see “DrGChiu” now in the “doctors list” on the right of the screen.

Now click on the “Save Details” button, and you will have registered with “DrGChiu”

7. Updates

The software will normally advise you of any updates, and offer to download the new version for you.
